How To Qualify

Within the first 30 days of account opening, your friend needs to perform 10 or more qualifying transactions, which could include:

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can I refer to BECU?

You can refer anyone who:

  • Isn't already a BECU member.
  • Is eligible for BECU membership. Your friend can either live, work, worship or attend school in our field of membership or have the BECU Foundation donate $5 on their behalf at signup to qualify.
  • Is age 18 or older.
When will my friend and I get our $100 bonuses?

Bonuses are deposited into your and your friend's Member Share or Member Advantage savings account within 120 days of your friend opening their account after they've completed their 10 qualifying transactions within 30 days. Their account must be in good standing at the time of promotion payout.

Are the bonuses taxable?

Yes. BECU will report your $100 bonus to the IRS on Form 1099-MISC, and your friend's $100 joining bonus on Form 1099-INT. We recommend talking to a tax advisor if you have questions about your specific situation.

Who isn't eligible to refer friends?

The Refer-a-Friend promotion isn't available to joint account holders or to Business, Fiduciary, HSA, Zero Dividend and Early Saver account holders. BECU employees are also not eligible.

How long is the offer available?

The Refer-a-Friend promotion is valid Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2026. BECU reserves the right to change or end the promotion at any time.
